Protecting your health is one of the most important duties that you have! At Midwest Family Health, we provide several immunizations in our pharmacies that save you a trip to your doctor and allow you to bring your whole family in. This is particularly helpful during flu season! Please call ahead of time to make an immunization appointment and to make sure we have the vaccine you want in stock.

The Process

  1. A pharmacy professional will review your immunization insurance coverage, current medications, possible side effects, and any concerns you may have
  2. The vaccine will be administered in a private or semi-private area
  3. Our staff will complete an immunization report for your doctor

Immunizations Available:

Flu

Flu shots are recommended annually for all patients aged 6 months and older, ideally in September or October. Contact your local Midwest Family Health to check availability of flu vaccines for children and adults each season.

Pneumonia

Pneumonia vaccines are recommended for all adults age 65+ and certain adults ages 18-64 with chronic conditions (such as asthma, COPD, anemia, diabetes, heart disease, liver disease and kidney disease). Our pharmacists will help determine which pneumonia vaccines you may need.

Shingles

Individuals who have had Chickenpox (Varicella Zoster) in their lifetime are highly susceptible to shingles. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends the shingles vaccine to anyone over the age of 50.

Tetanus

Most people receive their five recommended tetanus vaccinations in childhood. However, many people do not know that booster vaccinations are recommended every 10 years to maintain immunity. Also of particular importance, is the tetanus with pertussis vaccination (Tdap) for pregnant women and those who will come in contact with the newborn child to help prevent whooping cough (pertussis).

RSV

Respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious for infants and older adults. CDC recommends an RSV vaccine for everyone ages 75 and older and adults ages 60-74 at increased risk of severe RSV. Pregnant women and parents of young children should check with their doctor about options for lowering their risk for RSV through immunization.

COVID-19

*Please call for vaccine availability. The CDC recommends that most people receive an updated COVID-19 vaccine each year to help protect themselves from infection. COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization and death, and are especially important for patients with underlying conditions or other risk factors.
